WE BELIEVE

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord...

These ancient words begin the Apostles Creed, an ancient statement of faith Christians still follow today. At Jones Chapel we believe the Christian faith as taught in both the Apostles and Nicene creeds.

Yes, Jesus loves me,

     Yes, Jesus loves me,

          Yes, Jesus loves me

              The Bible tells me so.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God's Son, our Savior -- the Way -- the Truth and the Life. Because of Jesus birth, life, death and resurrection we can have the hope eternal life in heaven. Jesus walks with us now and will never forget or forsake us  -- to the ends of  earth, to the end of the age.

The B-I-B-L-E, yes that's the Book for me. I stand upon the Word of God, the B-I-B-L-E, BIBLE!

These words from an old children's song reflect our belief in the Bible, God's Word. God speaks  to us through His Word.  The Bible is our unchanging, infallible authority for both faith and practice. In the Scriptures we encounter God through His Son Jesus in the power of God's Holy Spirit.

The Good News is Jesus accepts us just as we are. The even better news is He doesn't leave us that way!

We believe God's Holy Spirit shapes us and transforms us into the image of God's Son Jesus.

We are NOT alone -- God is with us!

God is with His Church in two special ways -- we call them Sacraments. Like other Protestant Christians we celebrate the sacraments of Baptism by Water and Holy Communion. In baptism we claim God in Jesus Christ and God's Spirit reaches down and claims us. In Holy Communion we remember Jesus death on a blood-stained old rugged cross for our sins. We remember His Body broken in the bread and His Blood poured out in the cup.

Christ HAS died!

    Christ IS Risen!

        Christ WILL come again!

Like other Christians we believe Jesus' promise to return again for His Church. We do not debate the different ways of understanding Christ's return. We just trust that He will.

I am the church! You are the church! We are the church together! All who follow Jesus all around the world, yes we're the church together...

There is no "Lone Ranger" Christianity. We do not follow Jesus on our own. We are part of the Church -- the Body of Christ! Together we worship. Together we serve the broken world God loved so much He sent His Son to save. Together we make a small difference in our corner of God's green earth.
